There truly is an art in giving feedback. Many of us have been in the position where we were being asked to give feedback as part of a performance process, or asked others to give feedback on our performance.
If you’ve ever had that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when asked for feedback you’ll know that it is something that’s not always easy to do. In fact, in my experience, most people are terrible at giving feedback that is honest and constructive. In many organisations poor performance is never addressed because people don’t know how to give and receive feedback in a way that adds value.
But giving and receiving feedback is a useful way to show up blind spots and identify ways for improvement. Here’s how to do it right.
