Welcome to our discussion of the third of the six higher mental faculties – Imagination. You will recall that we said the six higher mental faculties are Perception, Will, Imagination, Reason, Memory, and Intuition.

Everything is created twice. First when it is an image on the screen of your mind and secondly when it manifests in your material world as a thing.

As little children you allowed your imagination to create the world you wanted. You imagined you were Superman, Spiderman, a fireman, a top sportsperson, a top musician, or whatever you desired. You created the world you wanted but as you grew up your imagination was trimmed because you were told “be realistic”, “money doesn’t grow on trees”, “stop daydreaming” and before long you no longer lived in a world of free imagination.

Your imagination is your inner internet, it opens doors that you never imagined existed. You use search engines to discover all sorts of information in the physical world but your imagination is more vast than what is available to you via search engines. Your imagination can connect you to infinite possibilities.

You see, you become what you think about all day long. The thoughts that are dominant in your mind manifest as results in your life. What future are you creating for yourself in your mind? Do you hold thoughts of abundance, or thoughts of lack? Are you creating a positive or negative future for yourself? Remember that as soon as you put a thought in your mind the imagination jumps to work and goes searching for everything related to that thought whether positive or negative and begins to shape your future. Are you a giant or a dwarf? Rich or poor? Happy or sad? Healthy or sickly?

Napoleon Hill describes the imagination as “ The workshop wherein are fashioned all plans created by man”. Man can indeed create anything which he can imagine. According to Hill Imagination comes in two forms, synthetic and creative. Synthetic imagination is the arrangement of old concepts, ideas, or plans into new combinations. For example faster and more powerful airplanes or more powerful computers. Creative imagination on the other hand is the faculty by which all basic and new ideas are handed over to men by Infinite Intelligence. It is the faculty through which “hunches and “inspirations” are received. You create your future through this faculty.

The imagination is a marvelous mental tool, it will do whatever you ask it to do.

Here is an exercise for you. Find a quiet place, sit down and write down what it is you really want. What is it you want to be, to do, and to have?  Let your imagination take you wherever it wants to. Don’t be constrained by any self-imposed limitations, don’t hold yourself back by being “realistic” but rather let your imagination lead you, just as it did when you were little.  Even if you don’t believe it just try the exercise, you will be amazed by the doors it will open for you. Don’t worry about what your friends, relatives, or anyone says, focus only on your ‘wants’. As you work through the exercise ‘feel’ that you are actually living that life.

Imagine using your brand new iPhone 12 for voice calls and text messages only as opposed to taking full advantage of its immense capabilities. Your imagination is much more powerful than any computer, what you have within you is indescribably powerful. Use it to create the future you want. Take advantage of the infinite possibilities your imagination opens for you.

Make up your mind that you want more out of your life, then create the image of the life you want in your mind, but you have to ask for it and be open to it.
