Welcome to our discussion of the fourth of the six higher mental faculties – Reason.

Do you feel like you are driving and driving but never getting to your destination? Step back. Know that despite what you have been made to believe it’s not supposed to work that way. The right path to your destination exists. It’s out there now and it’s within your grasp. You’ve got all the tools to find it. The higher mental faculty of Reason is there to remind you of that.

It’s been described as “the greatest gift you have”, “your constant companion”. Reason is your ability to think properly. It is an amazing tool that every single person is gifted with. You and I, as far as we know, are the only creation with this amazing tool. All the other creatures in the world do not possess it, it separates mankind from every other creation. Your thoughts, your ingenuity can bring forth all that you wish for. Start thinking and your whole world will change.

You are so used to “what’s possible” and “what’s not possible”, “who you are” and “who you are not”, “what you can achieve”, and “what you cannot achieve”. You may not like what you see but you are used to it and that makes you comfortable. Real reason stretches you, it feels uncomfortable, and sometimes it’s actually physically uncomfortable. That’s good, that discomfort is good because it means that you are thinking. The view on the other side of the discomfort is spectacular! Keep going, keep thinking, keep stretching yourself.

The information from your five senses, sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch, is a representation of current state reality. Current state reality is a reflected reality. It is reflected from the states of mind that you have been thinking – your bank balance, what other people think of you, what your history is, your position in society. Your reason, however, reminds you that your destiny is not determined by history and all these other things without your permission. Your reason reminds you that you have at your disposal, and sitting in your armoury, the higher mental faculties that daily remind you that you can be more than you see, feel, hear, touch, and taste. There is no limit to what you can be, do or have.

Most people are the plaything of what is going on around them, they live through their five senses. The gift of reason correctly applied is what will enable you to begin seeing the amazing opportunities all around you and to start seizing them so that you can create the extraordinary life you dream of. It’s not easy but it is simple. It’s not easy because it requires action and consistency on your part but once you master it you will create the life you want.

Be inspired by this quote,

“Who am I? I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure
I am completely at your command
Half the things you do you might as well hand them over to me and
I will do them quickly and correctly
I am easily managed but you must be firm with me
Show me exactly what you want and after a few lessons I’ll do it automatically
I am the servant of all great men and women
But alas I have made failures of all those who are failures as well
Those who are great I have made great
Those who are failures I have made failures….
You may run me for profit or run me for ruin
It makes no difference to me
Take me, train me, be firm with me and I’ll place the world at your feet
Be easy with me and I’ll destroy every dream you have
Who am I?
I am your thinking”.
Tap into the higher mental faculty of reason and it will place the world at your feet.
